Common Questions

What does outside general counsel mean for a small or mid-sized business?

It means having a law firm that already knows your company, handling contracts, leases, governance, and early-stage disputes on an ongoing basis, instead of hiring a new lawyer each time a problem appears.

Do we need an attorney to review every contract?

No. We help you sort agreements by risk. Routine documents can run on templates we prepare for you. Leases, large customer or vendor agreements, personal guarantees, and anything that shifts liability should be reviewed before signing.

What should a business owner do after being served with a lawsuit?

Note the service date, do not contact the other side, and call counsel promptly. In California state court the deadline to respond is usually 30 days from service, and some insurance policies require prompt notice of a claim.
